Shutterply/chipboard floor

This new technique uses shutterply pine, cut into 15cm wide boards.

Shutterply cut into 10cm-wide boards, is a more economical way of replacing a floor, compared to traditional tongue-and-groove floors. Supported by sheets of chipboard on the original beams which now rest on additional concrete blocks, the whole structure is very stable.

The whole surface was then stained in ‘Oregon pine’, followed by a layer of durable clear epoxy, which is often used on laminated floors.
